The Rural Municipality of Sarnia No. 221 invites applications for the full-time seasonal position of Maintenance/Equipment Operator. The shop is located within the Village of Holdfast. This position will commence approximately April 1, 2025, weather permitting.
The successful candidate must hold a valid driver’s license [Class 1A driver’s license is an asset], be able to operate various pieces of equipment as required (grader, tractor, skid steer, loader, backhoe, etc.), have knowledge of servicing/maintaining various equipment, have a working knowledge of road building and maintenance, the ability to work independently without supervision and as part of a team, be able to work safely, and have the ability to take direction from the RM Council and Foreman.
Applicants should have or be prepared to obtain power mobile equipment (PME), WHMIS, ground disturbance and first aid courses. Duties will include, but not limited to: grading and road maintenance, gravel reclamation, minor road construction, as well as ditch mowing, mulching, installation of culverts and signs, shop work, rock picking, service and maintenance of equipment and other duties as directed by the RM Council or Foreman.
Candidate must have well developed interpersonal and motivational skills, be able to take direction, must be able to complete physically demanding work.
The position includes a full benefit package including Short-Term Disability, Extended Health and Dental Benefits and the Municipal Employees Pension Plan.
Compensation will be negotiated on experience and ability.
