Resolution No. 21-03M

WHEREAS, snowmobiles and ATVs can cause damage to crops, trees, fences, irrigation equipment and personal property; and

WHEREAS, any damage to property or injury that takes place on private land is a liability to the land owner; and

WHEREAS, posting signs and other similar methods of restricting these activities is ineffective and does not impact any potential liability;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that SARM request amendments to Provincial legislation that would require snowmobile and ATV operators to obtain permission to enter private property; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, if necessary, that Provincial Legislation be amended to limit liability exposure for landowners when snowmobile and ATV operators enter private property without permission.
