WHEREAS SaskPower has denied payment to our local volunteer fire department for firefighting charges and other related charges relating to fire-fighting services on SaskPower’s easements and powerlines; and

WHEREAS any other persons and/or entities is responsible for firefighting charges and like fees relating to/on their property; and

WHEREAS volunteer firefighters are obligated to respond to all 911 calls; and

WHEREAS our volunteer fire fighting organizations incur expenses that do not get compensated when providing essential services to a Government of Saskatchewan Crown Corporation;

BE IT RESOLVED that SARM lobby the Government of Saskatchewan to make Saskatchewan Crown utility Corporations responsible for fire-fighting charges and other associated costs when such expenses are incurred to/on Crown Utility Corporation property.
