Resolution No. 17 – 08A
Sask 1st Call

WHEREAS “Sask 1st Call” was set up in Saskatchewan to make it easier for residents to conduct line locates before digging; and

WHEREAS most companies are member companies in “Sask 1st Call”, except for SaskPower, which makes residents phone them separately for line locates;

BE IT RESOLVED that SARM lobby the provincial government to have SaskPower added to "Sask 1st Call" to make it more streamlined for our residents.

Response from Honourable Ken Cheveldayoff, Minister of Crown Corporations

Response from SaskPower

SaskPower has an obligation to minimize public safety risk.  For that reason, SaskPower has chosen to receive calls directly for electrical line locates on it underground facilities, rather than participate in Sask 1st Call.  However, SaskPower is exploring options for involvement with Sask 1st Call.
