WHEREAS a claim for fire fighting fees incurred on municipal property is only paid by the SARM Property Self-Insurance Program (PSIP) if there is an insurable building on the property affected;

WHEREAS municipalities may own other properties within their jurisdiction that do not have an insurable building on them which would not qualify them for fire fighting insurance;

WHEREAS municipalities may have a fire occur on property such as Municipal Reserves or land that does not have an insurable building; and

WHEREAS the SARM PSIP would not cover the cost of fire fighting fees incurred on that property;

BE IT RESOLVED that SARM amend the PSIP insurance policy to insure lands owned by a municipality for fire fighting coverage regardless of whether or not an insurable building is located on the property.
