WHEREAS Regional Health Authorities are closing down services in rural Saskatchewan  due to lack of front line staff (nurses, doctors, LPN’s); and

WHEREAS the recruitment and retention of nurses, physicians and LPN’s are a very high  priority for rural municipalities and rural residents; and

WHEREAS there are not sufficient resources for salaries, increased hours, assisted housing,  and assistance for education costs to entice and retain health professionals;

BE IT RESOLVED that SARM continue to pressure our Saskatchewan Government to  increase resources for rural facilities and staff so beds do not get shut down especially in  peak seasons; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that SARM continue to pressure the Saskatchewan Government  to consider the costs in our over weighted health administration as the need at the lower  levels is urgent.
