Point of Privilege Resolution No. 9

BE IT RESOLVED, that SARM go on record as opposing any unilateral move to drastically reduce the number of health districts and that this opposition be strongly and immediately communicated to the Commission on Medicare, to the Premier and to the Minister of Health; any restructuring should be locally driven.

Response from Hon. John T. Nilson:

The views of the SARM Board of Directors regarding the number of health districts in Saskatchewan are duly noted. The Fyke Commission on Medicare recently released its report after conducting a review of the health system. Our government has announced a process that will allow people to have a say on the recommendations before we proceed with any plan of action. We will ensure that decisions regarding the Fyke Commission report are made in consultation with the public and our partners in the health care community.
