WHEREAS the Federal Indian Head Tree Nursery was established in 1901 and has since distributed over 650 million trees across Western Canada; and
 
WHEREAS this very productive institution was closed by the previous Federal Government; and
 
WHEREAS in recent years some three million trees and shrubs were provided for landowners annually across Western Canada; and
 
WHEREAS there continues to be widespread demand for trees and the re-opening of the Indian Head Shelterbelt Centre;
 
BE IT RESOLVED that the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities urge the newly elected Federal Government to commit to working with agriculture organizations, communities and concerned citizens in Western Canada to re-open the Indian Head Shelterbelt Centre
