WHEREAS many of the municipal owned landfills are now being decommissioned; and

WHEREAS financial institutions are very restrictive in the financing of farm land purchases on which are garbage dump exists;

BE IT RESOLVED that SARM lobby the Provincial Government to make the purchase of on-farm garbage bins (minimum of six cubic yards) an eligible expenditure under the Agri-Environmental Group Plan program.

Response from Honourable Bob Bjornerud, Minister of Agriculture:

The Agri-Environmental Group Plans are part of a Federal Provincial agreement. The current agreement will expire in two years. Practices funded in this program go through extensive costing and environmental review processes. The Ministry of Agriculture will consider SARM's request concerning this matter.
