WHEREAS controlled agricultural burning of fields is necessary to prepare for the next cycle of grain crops; and
WHEREAS reporting controlled agricultural burning helps to avoid unnecessary and costly fire department call outs; and
WHEREAS the controlled burn hotline number was changed from 310-5000 to 1-866-404-4911; and
WHEREAS producers are much more likely to report a controlled agricultural burn if the phone number is easy to remember;
BE IT RESOLVED that SARM lobby the Ministry of Environment to create a controlled burn hotline number that is easy for producers to remember.
