Res #: 36-12M
Number: 36
Year: 2012
Midterm: Yes
Expired: Yes
Responses Received: No
Departments: Transport Canada

WHEREAS farm machinery continues to increase in size and railway crossings have become more difficult to manoeuvre this large equipment through; and

WHEREAS this could pose a safety risk to producers, the railway, railway employees and/or the travelling public; and

WHEREAS the requirements for these crossings are controlled by Transport Canada;

BE IT RESOLVED that SARM lobby Transport Canada to review and change, where needed, their standard crossing widths to accommodate larger pieces of equipment to ensure the safety of all members of the public; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that SARM also lobby to have a process in which some flexibility can be applied to these standard widths under special circumstances.
