WHEREAS in 2009 the Province enacted the Saskatchewan Clubroot Initiative to promote awareness, prevention, and management of clubroot; and

WHEREAS the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture declared clubroot a pest, giving municipalities powers to control clubroot under The Pest Control Act, which includes the authority to pass bylaws to prevent, control, or destroy clubroot; and

WHEREAS vehicle tires are identified as a major contributor to the spread of clubroot; and

WHEREAS in addition, vehicles with catalytic converters are a higher risk of starting grass fires; and

WHEREAS livestock gates are commonly left open or fence wire is cut by hunters and pose a potential danger of stray animals on municipal roads;

BE IT RESOLVED that the SARM Board meet with the Ministry of Environment, Provincial Officials and any others deemed necessary to lobby for legislative changes to require hunting on private lands be by foot only.
