MINISTRY OF GOVERNMENT RELATIONS' RESPONSE
- The Ministry of Government Relations (GR) supports the efforts of communities to increase their emergency management capacity in preparation for events such as severe flooding.
- Research has affirmed that mitigation, whether structural or non-structural, is a highly cost-effective means of reducing the impacts of emergency events.
- GR and the Water Security Agency are anticipating that the federal government will soon reveal the details around their National Disaster Mitigation Program (NDMP) that was announced in the 2014 federal budget.
