Whereas presently insurance companies in the Province of Saskatchewan do not provide insurance coverage to any premises or holdings of a policy holder for any damage which is caused where there is no legal liability proven as to whom or what caused the said damage to a property; and

Whereas if a fire should cause extensive damage to pasture land, where for example, the fire may have started in a road allowance by an unknown source and spread into the adjacent pasture land and consequently there would be no insurance for this damage because no legal liability could be proven as to who or what started the fire; and

Whereas the loss of the pasture land to a farmer and/or rancher with a fire such as this could prove to be very detrimental to the future of the agricultural operation;

Be it Resolved that SARM consult with insurance companies to investigate the feasibility of allowing agricultural policy holders the option of carrying extra insurance for coverage of their lands for fire loss, where no known source is proven to be liable for any damage.
