WHEREAS the Government of Saskatchewan makes municipalities responsible for administering and enforcing The Uniform Building and Accessibility Standards Act and Regulations which removes building standards from being applicable to dwellings on farms as well as farm buildings; and

WHEREAS the definition of farm buildings is vague and difficult to interpret because the recent regulatory changes make the interpretation of farm buildings dependent on the assessors classification of a building as noted in The Municipalities Act;

BE IT RESOLVED that the Ministry of Government Relations review the definition of farm buildings in Saskatchewan and provide clearer direction for municipal councils and administrators to eliminate misinterpretation and provide consistency and continuity across the province; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the definition includes acre size, building size, owner occupied, off farm employee limits, human occupancy number and animal unit number limits.
