Resolution No. 1-04M

WHEREAS, changes are being made to the Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency Act, (SAMA) that will make it mandatory for SARM to appoint the rural sector representatives to the SAMA Board; and

WHEREAS, SARM would prefer that the rural sector representatives be elected by rural delegates; and

WHEREAS, the Saskatchewan School Boards Association will be holding an election for the education sector representatives at their convention that is held in November; and

WHEREAS, the Saskatchewan Urban Municipal Association will be holding an election for the urban sector representatives at their convention that is held in late January;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that SARM adopt the following policy for the election of rural sector representatives to the SAMA Board:
(1) That nominations for the position of Rural Sector Representatives to the SAMA Board be submitted to the secretary of the convention on the proper forms by 3 PM on the first day of the Midterm Convention;
(2) That if an election is necessary, that the election be held at 9:00 AM on the second day of the Midterm Convention, following the same procedure as is used when electing SARM Directors;
(3) That the President of SARM conduct the election process;
(4) That the representatives that are elected by the official delegates at the SARM Midterm Convention be the rural sector representatives on the SAMA Board; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the first election using this process be held at the 2004 Midterm Convention.
