WHEREAS the Clearing the Path Primary Weight Corridor funding is designed to compensate municipalities for maintenance (i.e.:  blading, gravelling, grass mowing, snow removal) at a rate of $1000 per kilometer, but does not address the costs for dust control;

BE IT RESOLVED that SARM negotiate with the Provincial Government to provide additional funding for dust control on Clearing the Path Primary Weight Corridors.

Ministry of Municipal Affairs RESPONSE

·        The Ministry considers dust control to be a part of overall road maintenance.

·        Rural Municipalities have the discretion to use any portion of the $1,000 per kilometre provided for maintenance of Primary Weight Road Corridors for dust control.
