Departments: Ministry of Public Safety & Canadian Border Services Agency
WHEREAS during the global pandemic, the hours at the ports of Climax and Monchy were decreased to Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day.
WHEREAS this approach made sense given the situation and the restrictions placed on travel; but North America is now moving forward, and it is time to return the hours of operation to pre-pandemic hours, so we do not restrict travel and economic growth.
BE IT RESOLVED that SARM lobby the Federal Government for, at a minimum, the Ports return to seven day, three hundred and sixty-five day a year service, and return to seasonal hours in summer from June 1st to September 15th of 08:00 to 21:00 hours.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) understands the impact of its reduced service hours at affected Canadian land border crossings, including Monchy and Climax. The Agency’s phased service-recovery approach aims to allocate required resources at the border while providing its regional operations with the necessary flexibility to redeploy staff as travel volumes increase.
Through its continual work with United States Customs and Border Protection, and in-depth analysis of the effect of border-service reduction at POEs across Canada, the CBSA is carefully developing and implementing a post-pandemic recovery strategy that can support the efficient and effective management and administration of Canadian public funds, while meeting the border-service needs of impacted POEs throughout Canada. Announcements will be made when restrictions can be lifted or amended at these POEs.
