WHEREAS the $30 payment to authorized trappers per problem beaver removed, made through the Beaver Management in Provincial Parks Program, was eliminated in the 2017-18 budget;
WHEREAS there are numerous beavers in the many of the provincial parks which increases the damage done by beavers in the RMs adjoining the parks;
BE IT RESOLVED that SARM again lobby the Ministry of Environment to reinstate the Beaver Management in Provincial Parks Program in the 2020-21 budget to help reduce beaver overpopulation in provincial parks and the resulting financial burden on the surrounding rural municipalities incurred due to beaver damage.

The former beaver management program in provincial parks was administered by the Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport. The resolution has been provided to officials at Parks, who have advised that this recommendation will be considered in its 2021-22 budget deliberations.
