Resolution No. 3-04A
WHEREAS, the Agricultural Producers Association of Saskatchewan (APAS), was developed as a "separate entity" from SARM to serve agricultural producers in Saskatchewan in ways SARM was unable; and
WHEREAS, SARM services agricultural producers through rural municipalities; and
WHEREAS, it is essential that both voices serving the producers and residents of rural Saskatchewan speak with authority on behalf of those they serve; and
WHEREAS, open disagreement between SARM and APAS merely damages the reputation of both and serves neither; and
WHEREAS, SARM has openly supported the Ag Health and Safety Network and Agrivision, including having representatives make presentations at their conventions;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that SARM invite APAS to give SARM delegates an update on membership, membership fees, activities and programs since the inception of APAS; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that SARM communicate with APAS so that issues relating to agriculture in Saskatchewan can be answered in a fashion that does not undermine either of these important voices of rural Saskatchewan.
