New Agriculture Programs

Two new agriculture programs were announced today.

1. 2011 Saskatchewan Feed and Forage Program

  • Assistance to offset feed shortages for their breeding herd where 2011 forage production was impacted by excess moisture. Feed purchases must be made June 1, 2011 to March 31, 2012 with applications due April 30, 2012.
  • Assistance to Saskatchewan producers who reseeded hay/forage land and/or pastureland that was damaged due to excess moisture conditions. Reseeding may take place June 1, 2010 to October 31, 2012 with applications due November 30, 2012.
  • There is no longer alivestock or feed transportation component to the program. Assistance for transportation or pasture rental required due to excess moisture may be available under the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program.

Please note that applicants must have their application witnessed by an RM Administrator (or their designate). This is not intended as confirmation of the application information, but rather confirmation of the applicant’s identity.

Just a reminder that the current Saskatchewan Feed and Forage Program has ended and applications for this program must be submitted by September 30, 2011. Please discontinue use of these applications once this deadline has passed. Discontinuation of these old forms is critical in reducing client confusion.

2. Intensive Livestock Operation Environmental Program

  • Assistance for intensive livestock operations that utilize outdoor clay-based pens and/or manure storage/containment in their production systems AND do not qualify for assistance under the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program (PDAP).
  • Funding is provided for construction work needed due to excess moisture in 2010 or 2011 and undertaken to repair and upgrade for environmental protection (not for normal maintenance, operating, or expansion).
