SARM welcomes the announcement that our provincial and federal governments are taking steps to ensure the vitality and health of Saskatchewan’s livestock industry. “The Pasture Recovery Initiative announced today is a very meaningful and important program and it will be a great help to Saskatchewan cattlemen” President David Marit said.
The Pasture Recovery Initiative provides a per-head payment to livestock producers. The payment allows cattlemen to purchase feed for their herds so that their pastures can recover from the recent drought. This initiative will assist producers in 64 drought-designated RMs in west-central and north-west Saskatchewan. The Pasture Recovery Initiative is being funded under the Agri-Recovery program.
President Marit observed that “Saskatchewan cattlemen have been reeling from the effects of a number of issues over the last few years.” And Mr. Marit notes that the drought “made a bad situation even worse and so we are very happy to see that our Provincial and Federal governments are taking steps to ensure the security of Saskatchewan’s cattle industry.”
