WHEREAS the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure installed numerous silt barriers in sloughs along highways throughout the flooding years;

WHEREAS those sloughs have now dried substantially, leaving the silt barriers in farmers’ fields due to wind, et cetera;

BE IT RESOLVED that SARM lobby the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure to remove silt barriers once they are no longer required.

MHI crews have removed the yellow floating barriers along Highway 22 between the Highway 20 junction and Southey. Staff are aware of two additional locations of silt fences within the Highway 22 right-of-way. The remaining silt fences along Highway 22, between the Highway 20 junction and Southey, will be removed at the next available opportunity.
