WHEREAS municipalities are required by section 4 of The Uniform Building and Accessibility Standards Act to administer and enforce the Act and Regulations;

WHEREAS there are individuals who contravene the Act and the municipality must take steps to enforce the Act without the ability to charge the costs of enforcement to the individual;

WHEREAS enforcement of the Act can be difficult and costly;

BE IT RESOLVED that The Uniform Building and Accessibility Standards Act be amended to allow municipalities to register an interest on the property where there has been a contravention of the Act.
