WHEREAS the average daily traffic count according to the 2014 Traffic Volume Map as  provided by Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure on Highway 9  between the City of Yorkton and the Town of Canora is 2,860 to 3,800 vehicles per day;  and

WHEREAS the heavy truck traffic has seen a substantial increase in the last few years  due to the additions of canola crushing plants, oat mills and various other commercial  and agricultural entities; and

WHEREAS there have been multiple fatal accidents on Highway 9 north of the City of  Yorkton in the last number of months;

BE IT RESOLVED that SARM lobby the Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways and  Infrastructure to implement passing lanes on Highway 9 between Highway 49 and the  City of Yorkton; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that SARM lobby the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure to  do a study into installing passing lanes on all single lane highway with at least 2,000  vehicles per day which do not currently have them.
