WHEREAS there are inspections being carried out on the bridge infrastructure in Saskatchewan;

WHEREAS at one time the province contributed 100% of the cost of construction and maintenance of bridges with spans greater than 30.5 metres;

WHEREAS the Project Management Board of the Municipal Roads for Economy Program (MREP) is in the process of considering establishing a policy of providing for the construction and maintenance of large bridges; and

WHEREAS to repair or replace these large spanned bridges is a major financial burden for rural municipalities;

BE IT RESOLVED that the Project Management Board establish a policy to provide 100% funding for the construction and maintenance of bridges with spans greater than 30.5 metres (approximately 100 feet).
