SK Government Announces $300M in Municipal Infrastructure Spending

The provincial government’s economic stimulus package announced today includes more than $300 million in new infrastructure spending for municipalities. The Infrastructure Stimulus funding is a welcome boost to rural Saskatchewan.

“Infrastructure is vital to our rural municipalities,” stated SARM President Ray Orb.  “Providing and maintaining essential infrastructure consumes more than 80% of an RMs incoming revenue- we have the most municipal road infrastructure in Canada.  This type of boost will help RMs to focus on infrastructure that support critical industries like agriculture and natural resources.”

SARM will continue to work with the province when it comes to the sustainability of municipal infrastructure to identify how the additional investment could work with current partnership programs.

SARM champions the value of rural Saskatchewan and works to support rural municipal government in the province.
