Pest Control Officer

The Rural Municipalities of Rudy No. 284 and Fertile Valley No. 285 are currently looking for an independent contractor to perform the duties of PEST CONTROL OFFICER under The Pest Control Act.

Applicants must:

1. Hold a valid Structural Applicator Licence (Pesticide Licence) or willing to acquire one
2. Possess a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Drivers Licence
3. Supply their own vehicle

The PCO will be expected to work as many hours per day as may be required to control or destroy any pests within each municipality.  The PCO will be required to fill out and submit Rat Infestation reports and PCO Inspection Reports.

These are required as part of the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM) Rat Control Program.

Specific Skills:

1. Advise ratepayers on how to prevent pest infestation
2. Prepare and spray chemical mixture on infested areas if necessary
3. Place and set traps to capture and remove animals if necessary
4. Inspect buildings and outside areas to detect signs of infestations
5. Neutralize pests through control measures such as pesticide application, baiting and trapping
