For Immediate Release
CP STRIKE WOULD CRIPPLE GRAIN MOVEMENT AND HURT RURAL PRODUCERS
The Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM) is encouraging the federal government to rapidly respond in the event of the CP Rail strike announcement.
Saskatchewan producers are already facing delays and increased costs as a result of the grain backlog in the prairie provinces. SARM members have passed resolutions to ensure grain transportation and rail level of service are a priority.
“The pending strike has the ability to further cripple grain movement and will hurt the western economy,” said Ray Orb, SARM President. “We are encouraging the federal government to promptly enforce back to work legislation to avoid any further disruptions to the supply chain.”
