SARM encouraged by Minister Garneau
The Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM) supports Bill C-49 as it believes that the legislation provides enhanced protections and tools for producers that will benefit them and the supply chain overall.
SARM members have passed resolutions regarding grain transportation, levels of service, the maximum revenue entitlement and other related issues that impact agriculture producers. With clear direction from its membership, SARM has actively participated in the Canadian Transportation Act review as well as provided comments throughout the legislative process for Bill C-49.
“We are pleased that Minister Garneau has accepted virtually all of the Crop Logistics Working Group’s amendments to Bill C-49,” stated SARM President Ray Orb. “SARM is hopeful for a speedy Senate review as this legislation impacts SARM members and the agriculture sector in Saskatchewan.”
