SARM Annual Convention – March 9 – 12, 2015

SARM will hold its 110th Annual Convention next week from March 9 -12, at Prairieland Park in Saskatoon.  With an agenda that covers a variety of topics and over 171 exhibitors confirmed for the tradeshow, we anticipate a successful event this year.

The Convention officially opens on Tuesday, March 10, at 10:00 am with registration beginning at 8:00 am.  The Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, Her Honour the Honourable Vaughn Solomon Schofield, will open the Convention with her address and presentation of the Award for Outstanding Service to Rural Saskatchewan.

Following the opening ceremonies, Acting President Ray Orb will deliver his address to the delegates and the Board will then field questions from the floor.  Resolution sessions will begin later that afternoon; twenty-six resolutions will be considered by the Membership.  The Honourable Jim Reiter, Minister of Government Relations, will close out the day with an address to the delegates.

On the morning of Wednesday, March 11, the Honourable Brad Wall, Premier of Saskatchewan, will address the delegates which will immediately be followed by the traditional bear pit session held with the provincial cabinet ministers.  The Keynote Speaker for 2015, John Gormley, will wrap-up the day.

The elections for President and Vice-President of the Association will take place first thing in the morning on Thursday, March 12.  The Honourable Scott Moe, Minister of Environment, will address the delegates shortly afterwards.  Elections for Directors of Divisions 2, 4 and 6 will also occur that afternoon.

In addition to the resolutions, the convention agenda will touch on several topics of interest.   Agenda and workshop topics include: Chronic Wasting Disease, Municipal Tax Policy and Property Assessment, Responsibilities of the Canadian Transportation Agency, Risk Management, and programs administered by SARM.
