Community Development Trust will Benefit Rural Communities

Community Development Trust will Benefit Rural Communities

SARM believes that many rural and urban communities will benefit from today’s announcement by Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Premier Brad Wall of the $36.4 million provided to Saskatchewan as part of the new national Community Development Trust.

Designed to assist communities and workers affected by the current volatility in today’s global markets, this new initiative will assist a number of industries and communities.

“We are pleased to see that the Government of Saskatchewan has identified biofuels and infrastructure as funding priorities,” said SARM President David Marit. “These are issues that SARM also feels very strongly about as they are keys to economic development in this province.”

“SARM is also happy to see the Government of Canada’s support for communities that have been affected by layoffs in the forestry sector,” said Marit.  “We want to see all of Saskatchewan reap the benefits of our province’s current economic boom.”
