Transport Canada has consistently listened to stakeholders, including farmers, rail companies, municipalities, and communities, and will continue to engage with associations such as SARM to ensure the safety of rural crossing users.

The department remains committed to protecting Canadians who live and work along rail lines by putting in place the necessary measures to reduce the risk of serious accidents at crossings, and providing assistance and advice to municipalities, the rail industry, and associations representing farmers.
