WHEREAS the Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation’s unseeded acreage feature compensates producers for land that is too wet to seed; and
WHEREASthe unseeded acreage feature offers four coverage levels of $50, $70, $85 and $100; and
WHEREAS the unseeded acreage feature cannot be used in consecutive years;
BE IT RESOLVED that SARM lobby the Provincial and Federal Governments to amend
the unseeded acreage program to have the option to include hay and pasture land
and that this option also extend the eligibility period of the unseeded acreage
program to five years or until such a time that a solution is found to the flooded acres
on terminal flood basin areas, such as the Quill Lakes basin.
