WHEREAS some rural municipal roads have an extreme amount of water over the driving surface; and
WHEREAS constructing through this extremely deep water would be very costly; and
WHEREAS the wave action would erode the new construction;
BE IT RESOLVED that SARM lobby the Provincial Government to provide Provincial Disaster Assistance Program funding to construct a new diversion around a flooded road.
Response from Jim Reiter, Minister of Government Relations and Minister Responsible for First Nations, Metis and Northern Affairs
• The ministry is aware of this resolution being directed towards PDAP, and after initial consideration it has been determined that this issue is beyond the scope of the program. Due to the complexity of water management issues, this issue is more appropriately directed towards the authority of my colleague the Honourable Ken Cheveldayoff. Government Relations will ensure this resolution is referred to the Water Security Agency officials for a response.
