WHEREAS the Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency (SAMA) provides an efficient and useful service to the rural municipalities of Saskatchewan; and
WHEREAS SAMA has experienced a budget reduction in provincial funding; and
WHEREAS SAMA is unable to get the maintenance reports completed in a timely manner;
BE IT RESOLVED that SARM lobby the Provincial Government to increase funding to the Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency in order to retain staff to provide services in a timely manner to meet the growing demands of the province.
Response from Honourable Jim Reiter, Minister of Government Relations:
Funding for the Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency (SAMA) is considered as part of the annual provincial budget process. For the 2013-14 year, government will examine SAMA’s budget and its funding needs with expectations that SAMA will provide governance and assessment valuation services to its clients in an efficient and effective manner. An announcement in this regard will be made on budget day.
