Rural municipal election polls are open today, October 26, 2011, and results of these elections can be posted on the SARM website as soon as polls close and votes are counted.
One month ago, SARM launched a real-time, online reporting tool for rural municipalities to publically post their candidates and results of the 2011 Municipal Election, located at https://elections.sarm.ca
Almost all RMs have published their candidates’ names for ratepayers and the general public to view ahead of the polls. On the election night, rural administrators can post unofficial results that will be visible to the public and media immediately. SARM staff will be on hand to assist if necessary.
“This online reporting tool makes election results available almost immediately to ratepayers, municipalities, the media, and other stakeholders, saving administrators’ time and offering a huge convenience,” said David Marit, SARM President. “I am pleased that SARM is providing this valuable service.”
Election results can be viewed by visiting the SARM website at www.sarm.ca and clicking the “2011 Unofficial Rural Municipal Elections Results” link, or by visiting https://elections.sarm.ca/
