The Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities today expressed its pleasure with the announcement that 72 infrastructure projects have been approved under the Communities Component of the Federal governments Building Canada Fund. SARM President David Marit said he was “very glad to hear the news” that $79 million dollars will be spent on “vital” infrastructure projects in rural Saskatchewan.
President Marit is thankful for the funding arrangements which made the projects possible and he gratefully acknowledges the contributions of the federal and provincial governments. Under the program, Ottawa and Saskatchewan contribute two thirds of the cost of a project, while a municipality contributes one third. “All of these projects are extremely important to the health and well-being of rural Saskatchewan” said Marit.
