WHEREAS the Energy East pipeline is integral to the economic prosperity of Western Canada in general; and
WHEREAS the pipeline will reduce Canada's dependency on foreign oil;
WHEREAS shipping oil by pipelines is a much safer alternative to transport by rail; and
WHEREAS oil pipelines free up rail capacity to transport grain and other agricultural products;
BE IT RESOLVED that SARM write a letter to the Federal Minister of Transport and Minister of Environment and Climate Change in support of the construction of the Energy East pipeline.
