WHEREAS grain production has been increasing in Western Canada and is anticipated to increase in future years; and
WHEREAS our national railways are unwilling or unable to move agriculture products to an export position in a timely fashion; and
WHEREAS customers for our agricultural products are losing faith in Canada's ability to meet sales commitments on time and are seeking product from other competitors;
BE IT RESOLVED that SARM lobby the Federal Government to prioritize the movement of agricultural products to port; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Federal Government work with railways to ensure adequate locomotive power and hopper cars are put into service to move agriculture products and eliminate current back logs and ensure future movement to port meets demand.
