SARM’s Executive made a pre-budget trip to Ottawa today to discuss priorities that directly affect Saskatchewan’s agriculture industry and way of life in rural Saskatchewan.
Top of mind for SARM are the rail blockades and the structural changes that need to be made to the AgriStability program, given the increased uncertainty in the agriculture sector driven by trade disputes and transportation issues.
Equally important, are exemptions from carbon tax and carbon credits for producer’s role in carbon sequestration.
SARM President Ray Orb, Vice President Carmen Sterling and Executive Jay Meyer are meeting with federal officials in the Ministries of Finance, Environment, and Agriculture.
“SARM is committed to representing the voice of rural Saskatchewan in Ottawa,” stated SARM President Orb. “We need to keep rural priorities at the forefront in the development of the federal budget.”
