Feral Wild Boar Program (see SCIC)
SARM no longer administers the Feral Wild Boar Control Program (FWBCP) on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture. Effective April 2015, Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation (SCIC) has assumed administration of the FWBCP and it will accompany the wildlife damage compensation and prevention programming available to Saskatchewan producers.
The function of the FWBCP is not changing and will still involve the coordination of qualified teams of hunters and trappers to investigate sightings and take appropriate action to deal with problem animals. SCIC’s role is to be the first point of contact when producers and land owners have sightings of wild boar and to determine and coordinate the appropriate response.
