WHEREAS the federal and provincial governments have final say in all infrastructure work done involving flowing bodies of water;
WHEREAS they do not consider existing infrastructure downstream when upgrading or designing new projects;
WHEREAS these decisions not only affect infrastructure, but are a huge cost to municipalities;
BE IT RESOLVED that SARM lobby the provincial and federal governments to ensure that they are required to consult with the local authorities to ensure full consideration of upstream and downstream infrastructure when designing projects involving flowing bodies of water.
