SARM heads to Ottawa- voicing rural Saskatchewan concerns

The Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM) will be lending its voice in Ottawa next week as a team of Board Members supported by SARM staff meet with federal ministers and policy makers to discuss issues in rural Saskatchewan.

SARM is proud to be the independent association that represents rural municipal government in Saskatchewan and to voice local concerns at the federal level.  SARM takes direction from its members and will be meeting with federal representatives in Finance, Transportation, Infrastructure, Fisheries and Oceans, Agriculture and Agri-food, Environment, Economic Development, and Public Safety to help align federal policy and programs with the needs in rural Saskatchewan.

Amongst several issues to be discussed is SARM’s opposition to the Federal Government’s proposed changes to the taxation of private corporations and the subsequent negative implications for the farmers, ranchers, professionals, and small business owners that make up our rural communities.

As part of SARM’s commitment to rural municipalities we head to Parliament Hill every year to highlight rural Saskatchewan concerns to federal ministers and policy advisors.  SARM will be in Ottawa October 2-5, 2017.
